How these Denver Broncos together with the malleable quarterback could end that Chiefs' reign.

Week six of the 2025 NFL season
Live coverage includes live text for the weekend matchups on multiple platforms, beginning with the Broncos-Jets clash at Tottenham (from 14:00 BST). Also, audio coverage can be heard through select stations for a separate game (beginning at 9 PM BST).
It's week six in the NFL season and following last week's discussion about two top teams as a potential Super Bowl match-up, they both lost their unbeaten records.
Striking during those contests was the number of infractions both committed. Philadelphia did so in key moments so they essentially beat themselves after leading by two touchdowns entering the final quarter versus Denver, who play overseas this weekend.
But it was positive to observe that Denver's QB Bo Nix managed to overcome the shortfall before lead three successful possessions in three attempts in the fourth quarter, to win the victory by four points.
The Broncos have the top defender in CB their star corner. They rank number one in goal-line defense, while the Eagles lead the league in red zone offence, and the Broncos won that battle.
They had the Eagles' number in terms of disguised blitzes. They did not necessarily sending more than four defenders but they could plug two linebackers in the interior before withdrawing them and dispatch a nickel off the edge.
At the start in the campaign, it was noted on a program how the Broncos might emerge as this season's surprise contenders. They ended the previous year well and did a good job of building upon that.
Could Denver be this year's underdog story?
Recently acquired tight end Evan Engram has stepped up big while recent RB their rusher is a player they believe in. He now ranks fifth league-wide in ground gains (402) and tied for fourth for rushing touchdowns (4).
I love how head coach the Broncos' leader has "RUN IT!" prominently on his call sheet.
This demonstrates how the Broncos represent a team that wants to run first, since one can achieve much off the back of that. It reduces opposing rushes and maintains in positive down and distances.
This has helped QB Bo Nix, who came into the league as the 12th overall draft pick last year, throwing 29 TDs – second only to a star QB in rookie records (31 back in 2020).
Other elite QBs possess the arm strength to throw anywhere, but they don't move in the same way that Nix has. He has incredible passing ability, which is different, plus he is highly agile.
His strengths are his mobility, being able to pass while moving, as well as finding varied release points to make the pass as he moves out of the pocket, on rollouts. He is able to deliver that layered pass over the middle and over the corner.
As a rookie QB, aged 25, he's got a lot of composure in the pocket and isn't really fazed by extra rushers. He tries to avoid being tackled as much as possible and is able pass under pressure. He possesses sharp intelligence and remains quick to decide.
If you consistently run the ball it eats up time and forces the defence to be in play extended periods, and if you've got a mobile QB the defense has to cover the field vertically side to side. This proves exhausting.
Nix has bitten back with the coach on the sideline sometimes and it seems the coach appreciates that fire, that he's such a competitor. I think it's exciting for him to have a rookie QB that is similar to moldable clay. The coach can really develop him the way he wants to build it. I think it's a special experience for him.
Payton owns a Super Bowl and now passed a legend in all-time victories (173, tying for 14th). He's seen it all. I think the success Denver are having on offence is largely due to his leadership, his schemes, his game sense – and the pairing with Nix aids shape him into who he is.
There's no better a better guy in your ear, to help you through difficult moments and boost self-belief.
I believe in Denver's defence, in the QB's grit and calm. Yet is the team strong enough to go against a top squad at full strength? Since that was not a Super Bowl performance from Philadelphia in their last game.
Right now, it's unlikely Denver are incredible. They're performing better than most, that's a solid position to hold the AFC West. The key is to continue this trajectory.
They're really good at embracing their forte, that is running the ball, and this is exactly what they should do against the Jets at Tottenham. It's going to be a Dobbins-focused game, in essence.
New York have surrendered 140 yards on the ground each contest (sixth worst), five ground scores this season (in the bottom ten), and they are the sole squad yet to win any game.
Since the NFL started recording takeaways in 1933, the Jets are the inaugural squad to be without any turnovers through five games, which is surprising considering that the head coach was previously a defensive coach with another team.
The Chiefs' QB stated the Chiefs are off to a poor start after a recent loss to Jacksonville.
After this Sunday's game, the Broncos face a smooth-ish schedule up to their break (in week twelve) - the Giants, Dallas Cowboys, the Texans and the Raiders before the Kansas City Chiefs.
Looking at the AFC West, the Chiefs are 2-3 while Denver are even with the Los Angeles Chargers at 3-2 so they could challenge for the top of the West.
It depends on what version Kansas City shows up they face because Denver {beat|def
