Followers Urge Custody of Individual Who Grabbed Ariana Grande
Devoted fans of the pop star are calling for that a person who jumped a barricade and seized the celebrity during the recent Wicked: For Good launch be taken into custody or deported from Singapore.
A viral video depicts the individual from Australia shoving aside photographers and rushing toward Grande while the performers walked down a yellow carpet surrounded by supporters.
Co-star Cynthia Erivo promptly pulled the stunned performer away from Mr Wen, who was observed being removed of the event by event staff.
Mr Wen posted on Instagram Thursday evening that he was "free after being taken in", though official papers revealed that he was due to be present on the following morning. It is not clear if he was charged.
History of Event Invasions
This is not an isolated incident for Mr Wen, who calls himself a "Controversial Figure", has disrupted a concert or event. His Instagram feed features clips of him disrupting other star-studded functions, including jumping on stage at the pop singer's Sydney show in recently and in a comparable manner during The Chainsmokers concert in the area last year.
"There needs to be action enforced against him as this is clearly a criminal offence," stated an Instagram follower, in a response to a video Mr Wen shared of his actions.
"This appears to be a habit... why are you not imprisoned?" another Instagram user wrote.
Fans Voice Worry Over Ariana's Well-being
Several supporters blamed Mr Wen for "re-traumatising" Grande, who had discussed suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder after a devastating incident at the end of her May 2017 concert in Manchester, resulting in the death of 22 people and injuring hundreds.
"The star has endured numerous terrifying experiences... including the Manchester tragedy, and you believed breaching security was amusing?" said one more message on Instagram.
Several fans also faulted security officers at the Thursday event for not being sufficiently alert; while different individuals requested social media platforms to remove Mr Wen's content.
Response and Premiere Information
In footage spreading on the internet, Grande appeared surprised when she was grabbed by the individual. Her cast members Michelle Yeoh and Erivo can be seen reassuring her while Mr Wen was escorted away by security.
Grande has not commented on the situation, and the premiere activities proceeded as normal.
Hundreds of supporters had gathered in a mass of green and pink at the Wicked: For Good Asia-Pacific debut in a Singapore venue, including some who had waited for as long as many hours before it started.
The motion picture, to be premiered on the 21st of November, is the sequel of a two-film adaptation of the acclaimed Broadway and West End musical Wicked, which focuses on the unlikely friendship between two distinct sorceresses.
The production itself is a derivative of the twentieth-century book The Wonderful Wizard of Oz.
Grande, who acts as the character Glinda Glinda, was dressed in a rosé sparkling outfit at the event while Erivo, who plays the wicked witch, wore a black tube gown decorated with roses.
They were accompanied by cast member Jeff Goldblum.
The first movie, Wicked, was the most successful motion picture of the previous year in the UK, and earned a dozen Academy Award nods, earning a pair for best costume and set decoration.
