Arne Slot Asserts He Is Safe and Has Liverpool's Support After PSV Eindhoven Defeat

Arne Slot acknowledged that it's understandable for questions to be asked about his future after another convincing loss against the Dutch champions.

Liverpool endured their ninth defeat in 12 matches, marking the team's poorest streak after being relegated in 1953-54.

They were outplayed by the Eredivisie title holders on a punishing night at Anfield.

“I feel secure, things are alright, I have got plenty of support from the top,” Slot stated.

“It's important to change things and get a victory of course but if you are in a managerial role and underperforming then it's typical that questions are asked.”

He added, “I accept my position. It is not the initial instance I've found myself in a difficult position but it's necessary that we improved our results.”

Discussions with Club Management

Upon being questioned to provide details on his discussions with the Liverpool hierarchy, Slot revealed:

“We communicate frequently. They are helpful for the squad and to me and those talks happen but they don't phone me every single minute each day to say they back me.”

He further stated, “Through standard discussions I perceive the trust. However I haven’t spoken to them since this match so far so we'll see.”

Persistent Problems and Squad Response

Slot highlighted known failings from his Liverpool side in their European defeat, namely wasted chances and defensive lapses.

Meanwhile, player Jones was more direct in his evaluation of the club’s predicament.

“I don’t have the solutions. Honestly, I do not. I’m saying that to everybody,” Jones stated.

“It is not good enough. I don’t even have to wait to think about it. I’m past feeling anger internally. I’m at the point currently where I just don’t have the phrases.”

He went on, “It's difficult because I play for the team I support. I'm a supporter, and I’ve seen this club for years.”

“In recent memory, I've not seen a Liverpool team enduring a period like this with performances so bad.”

Jones concluded, “However we still have the crest on our chest. And until that badge is gone, we'll continue to compete.”

“We will attempt to help the side return to where it needs to be, demonstrate to all again the values of this club and why it's known as the top club in the world.”

“At this moment, things are bad and it needs to change.”
